Resident Evil: Revelations Demo Review

Has anyone heard about this? This game somehow slipped under my radar (granted college has kept me VERY busy this semester), so either it was very under-hyped or I just missed it. Either way, I was pleasantly surprised to see Two Best Friends playing it today and decided to give it a try myself.

Fun fact: this game was actually released last year for the 3DS. This year, they decided to relaunch it for PC and all home consoles. A bit lazy? Well, maybe. But I never got the chance to play it and I’ve been looking for a new survival horror to fill the void once I’m done with Resident Evil: Code Veronica. The game takes play between Resident Evil 4 and 5, starring Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, along with Parker Luciani and Jessica Sherawat, shortly after the BSAA was formed. However, alas - there will be no co-op this time.

T-Virus and Antidote (Resident Evil shots)
Ingredients:T-Virus-2 oz Blue Curacao1/4 tsp Agar powder1 1/2 oz Citrus vodka
T-Virus Antidote-2 oz Midori1/4 tsp Agar powder1 1/2 oz Citrus vodka
Tools-Small panFood syringe Silicon tubing that fits the syringe (1 ft. minimum)Glass of ice waterTall shot glasses
Directions: This recipe is for those who like the previous T-Virus and Antidote shots, but want to wow your guests with something a bit more complicated. In a pan, bring the blue curacao or Midori to almost a boil. Remove it from the heat and mix in the agar powder with a spoon or spatula. Suck the liquid into the syringe and inject it into the tubing. Submerge the tubing into the glass of ice water and wait around 5 minutes for it to solidify. After about 5 minutes, remove the tubing from the water. To remove the newly solidified gel from the tube, fill your syringe with air and use the air to push the gel out. Cut the gel strings into the appropriate length for your shot glass. Carefully wrap the gel around the inside of your shot glass and slowly pour in citrus vodka. Serve, infect, and heal.

Resident Evil 6 Update Released, Second Update Announced

image

Finally, some much needed updates: Capcom has announced that the first title update for Resident Evil 6 has been released and includes some interesting new changes. Take a look:

Here’s a list of what is included in today’s title update:
  • Gamers will be able to adjust the camera to give a greater field of view as best suits their play style. The camera screenshot pairs show the minimum and maximum range of the new camera setting. Please note that this feature is still in development and may change without further notice before the title update is released. (Camera was AWFUL at many points in the game.)
  • Subtitle options have been improved so that English language audio can be combined with subtitles in an alternative language.
  • As recently announced, Ada Wong’s campaign will be unlocked from the start and have an optional player-controlled co-op partner added. It was previously necessary to complete all three other campaigns in order to unlock Ada’s story. (Little annoyed with this - I went through every campaign to unlock it myself! I found it to be a great bonus for some hard work!)
  • ‘No Hope’ difficulty level will be added above the existing levels, for players who want an extreme challenge.

Green, Red, and Yellow Herbs (Resident Evil shots)

Ingredients:
Green Herb:
1 part Midori
1 part Green Apple Pucker
___

Red Herb:
1 part Grenadine
1 part 5 Hour Energy - Berry flavored
___

Yellow Herb:
1 part Gold rum (Bacardi Gold used)
1 part Honey bourbon (American Honey used)

Directions: For each individual shot, simply mix ingredients in a test tube shot glass. To create herb combinations, mix the shots up in separate glasses, the layer them according to density. Red is the heaviest and will always go on the bottom, Green is the next heaviest, and Yellow is the lightest. For the best effect when layering, make sure all your ingredients are chilled beforehand. Tilt the test tubes and pour the shots in so that they slide down the side of the tube.

Notes: I’ve had the idea for these shots for almost as long as The Drunken Moogle has existed, but refused to do so until I got the proper glassware. I modeled the herbs after my favorite Resident Evil game, Resident Evil 4.
Green- The basic herb. It’s nice nice and soothing.
Red- The catalyst herb. Alone, it will do nothing for you (thus the lack of alcohol and addition of caffeine in this shot), but mix it with a green herb and you’ll get something new.
Yellow- The stat increase herb. This shot won’t increase your overall health, but it’s certainly the strongest herb out of the three shots. Mix it with Green or both Green and Red for a strength boost.

Resident Evil 6 Pre-orders from Capcom Store Include an Umbrella…Umbrella!

All pre-orders for Resident Evil 6 placed through the Capcom store will include the freebie seen above: a literal Umbrella umbrella. Well…that’s a sort of fun collector’s item, I guess. I’m always losing umbrellas so I can appreciate a gift like this!

The custom Umbrella umbrella bears the “Umbrella” name on the outer top and on the handle - I’m waiting for my friends who’ve never played Resident Evil to ask me about it.

Resident Evil 6 Demo Comes To Consoles This Month

I know we’re all excited for Capcom’s Resident Evil 6, which is set to arrive on October 2, 2012. But that’s like a month away! :(

Don’t worry, zombie fans - PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 users both will have a chance to give it a test drive starting on September 18, 2012 with the release of a playable demo. On the Xbox 360 side, that date just applies to Xbox Live Gold subscribers; free Silver users will have to wait an additional week, with the demo arriving on September 25.

Resident Evil 6 Anthology Edition Details

For an extra $30, past Resident Evil titles could be yours in the Resident Evil 6 Anthology Edition! Pretty good deal, especially if you’re new to the series.

Capcom-Unity has confirmed on their blog that there would be special Resident Evil 6 Anthology editions in the U.S.

Resident Evil 6 Anthology will retail for $89.99 and will release on October 2 alongside the standard edition of the game. However, it seems that PS3 owners get the better bargain - their edition will include 6 games whereas Xbox owners will only get 4. Xbox owners will get Resident Evil Degeneration, a CG animated film, as well…but I personally would rather more games.

Here are the games included for both systems, courtesy of Destructoid.
